Hello - can anyone help?

I need to watch a video for school. I have Media Player v. 11. Video
plays, but not audio! It's just a wmv file, and I do have the Windows Media
Video v. 7 codec installed (I even went out to reinstall it).

The frustrating thing is I am able to run other WMV files.

My school's IT technician is leaving it up to me to solve (despite being
very helpful) as it seems to be a hardware issue on my end. I do not have a
firewall issue. Other students are not having issues.

version 11.0.5721.5145
Operating system: MS XP Professional v 2002, Service Pack 2

Does anyone have any ideas?

Sure - if you play the video then go to File -> Properties menu (or
right click on the video click and choose Properties) it will list the
codecs in use for playback - or not playback in your case.

If I take a bet it's WMA Mono audio, then this should be your fix :
