Hi Alex,
No, you don't need to do that. Instead try the steps on this website:

No it doesn't offer me a dialog. A window just pops up saying the internal.
application error. Should I still do the Event Viewer?

Okay, when it dies in this manner are you offered a dialog to submit the
information to Microsoft? If it does, do you allow it to be sent?
If you do, can you please follow the below instructions to get the crash
bucket number from the Event Viewer and tell us what it is?
To get this click Start -> Run, type in "EventVwr" and press enter.
In the Event Viewer window, click the Applications node. Sort by date by
clicking the date column header until you see the dates getting more recent
as you go up the list. Near the top of the list you'll see Red marked and
Yellow marked entries. Find a Red entry followed immediately by a Yellow
entry. Open the Yellow entry and find the label "Fault Bucket" in the body
of the entry. That label will be followed
by a number.
Please reply here with that number and I'll see what I can find about what's
causing this crash.

Hi,
What Windows version are you using?
If XP, what WMP version are you using?
How long ago was it working?
Have you installed any new software or codecs recently, something just
before the error started occuring?
