I don't know of any CODEC that would support embedded track information in
WAV files. The problem is that the CODEC would have to know what bits to
ignore - because it is the track data - and what bits to turn in to sound -
because it is the sound data. There's no standard for it and it would be
awfully hard to create one this late in the game without breaking billions of
existing CODEC isntallations.
So you're pretty well stuck with data stored in the library database of
whatever media player you use for WAV files.
That said, not all hope is lost - though most of it is, I think. If you can
export your library from Foobar and export your WMP library using my Metadata
Backup program, you might be able to find some utility to merge the
information from Foobar to the XML from Metadata Backup.
If you have any scripting or development skills or interest, this would be a
relatively trivial task.
If not, it might be harder. but you could download Microsoft's XML Notepad
2007 and do some copy/pasting. That still might be easier than doing it all
in Advanced Tag Editor.
Just make sure you do any editing of the XML from Metadata Backup in a
backup copy of the file. That way, if you trash your library, you can
rebuild it following instructions commonly available here and use the
original copy of the XML from Metadata Backup to restore any missing custom
information.

G'day Everyone,
I'm expanding on my previous post as this is more specific to my intentions
using Windows Media Player 11, and all your kind assistance and suggestions
are most welcome!!
I started ripping my CDs to 4 x External HDDs as WAV Files using Foobar2000
Media Player. I've gone off the FBar MP as I'm having difficulties
comprehending it's indepth configuration, so WMP 11 is the easy option for
me, until I get smarter lol.
Well, here's where the problems begin. Somehow, the FBar config has caused
the WAV Files of all Track 1's of every one of my approx 2000+ ripped CDs to
read as "Unknown" in the WMP11 Library. This means that I have to correct
more than 2000 entries within the WMP Library. All the 4 x HDDs also display
all the Track 1 WAV Files as "Unknown" in all values (Artist, Track Title,
etc). Although I've elected WMP11 as the default player, these erroneous
readings showed up prior to the change.
Now, I don't really mind having to spend months to correct all the 2000+
errors within the WMP11 Library if that's what it takes, but what my goal is,
is to enquire on how to make these changes within the WMP Library correct all
the Track 1's that are listed as "Unknown" on all the 4 x HDDs as well.
Many Thanks for looking in!!
Cheers!
For MP3 Tag and Rename functions I use a great proggy called, um, MP3
Tag and Rename. It is not free but does have a trial. You can rename
files based on its tags, import tags based on the filename, or do mass
editing of tags. Really saved me a lot of time
