The soltion created another problem, now my window reboots to error message
that repeats continuously and even when press ctrl+ alta+del it boots back
the same error...here is the error
" Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 082)
copyright (c) 1997-2000 Intel corporation
FOR REALTEK RTL8139 (X)/8130.810X PCI FASTEHERNET CONTROLLER V2.13 (020326)
PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM"
BTW my Realtek driver version is 5.612.0628.2004. and Window xp pro ver 2002
SP2.
I had this laptop for 2years and never had any issue except for that green
screen issue.

The Windows Media newsgroup is supposed to be for non-specific Windows Media.
stuff, unfortunately people post player specific stuff in that newsgroup.
Don't know who Tom Woolwin is, but I only figured out that the green screen
is related to the Intel chipset by trial and error. You're the third person
to confirm that you have the Intel 915 chipset and that the drivers resolve
the issue.

Thank you again. WMP 10 works fine after I downloaded Mobile Intel®
915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family. I don't know about WMP 11 coz I'll
stay with WMP 10.
My question is why did I went through all that trouble for this simple
solution for almost 3 Weeks.? do I blame Intel or Microsoft?. I Think the
blame is on Microsoft Coz some body by the name of Tom Woolwin posted first
in this news group microsoft.public.windowsmedia, and again Blevines posted
in different group microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player with no avail.
There should be one group for media related issue either windowsmedia or
windowsmedia.player.

Out of curiosity, do you have the Intel 915 chipset for your video?
If so, download and install these drivers:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=1862&DwnldID=12539&strOSs=44&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Professional&lang=eng
I'm just guessing, but two people with this symptom, had the Intel 915s, the
first installed these drivers and had success, I'm waiting back to hear from
the second.
You would be the third if this works.

Thanks for your reply, here's what I did.
1) I uninstalled IE7 and reinstalled it. Then my WMP11 worked fine, but then
Windows Update installs KB929969 and KB931768 which makes WMP11 video stream
green screen with audio only.
2) I thought my WXP was corrupted so I formatted my HD and installed a clean
WXP
with WMP10 and my WMP10 video streaming was working fine until Windows
Update installed those two patches.
That's why I'm sure the issue with greenish screen with audio only is caused
by those patches.

Sorry I didn't see your post Herzi, I'll see what I can find out about these
patches, but I still need confirmation from Pete if either of these were the
ones that caused it, or if it was a separate issue.

Here is the main culprit for me; both KBs come together through window
update. The WMP was working fine but after instalation of both KBs video
streaming window becomes green with audio only. Below is a question a posted
on June 1, 07
BTW I formatted my HD my media waas working fine again when those KBs came
through W. update again same issue..green screen most likely KB929969.
"I only have this problem when Window Automatic Update installes the below
KB.
every time I uninstall IE7 and reinstall video streaming is working fine but
then again Window Automatic Update forces me to install this 2 KB below.
When M.Soft WILL FIX THIS ISSUE OR at least inform us they are working on.

Pete,
This is important, what update did you install that is causing the problem?

Hello. A few days ago I installed the latest Windows XP security updates and
since then Media Player 11 has stopped working. On all types of video files
I get a screen of garbled random pixels and patterns and it doesn't play.
I can still play audio files and I can play the video files fine using other
media players/- BS player, VLC, virtualdub, real player etc only not with
Windows Media Play.
I carried out a system restore to before installing the latest updates and
it worked fine. But after re-installing the updates the problem returned. I
rolled back Media Player to the previous version but that didn't solve it.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
