Do you know how to use DXDIAG? It's a tool that ships with Windows, you
launch it by clicking Start -> Run, type in DXDIAG and press enter.
The diagnostic tool will launch and a small green progress bar will appear
in the lower left corner. You may be asked about checking for WHQL drivers,
if you are, answer no.
Once the green progress bar has completed and disappears, click the "Save
All Information..." button. This will create a text file called DXDIAG.TXT
defaulting to your desktop.
You can open it in notepad to see what's there. Alter any personally
identfiable information (computer name, user account name, etc) but we need
the hardware, driver and installed codec information intact.
The data will fit into two posts here, or if you have a location that you
can make it available for download so we can look at it, that would be
helpful.
Also please indicate what verson of Internet Explorer that you're using if
you are willing to provide the information.

It almost sounds like something is insinuating itself into the playback graph.
Did you installed any codec or audio enhancement packages prior to this
becoming a problem?

I am having the same problem with CD's not playing right. Ripped content
plays fine. If I try to rip or play CD's right now, the songs are all
garbled. I can play CD's with the ITunes player with no problem. I can
also rip with the ITunes player and they are fine. This problem just
started a few weeks ago.
I am using WMP 11 with XP Home SP2 and also using a sound blaster sound card
with up to date drivers.
Thanks for the help

Do the CD's say if they are enhanced? I just tried to play an older CD(1999)
and it did the same thing as with the new one. SWS WOW..is off..still have
problem:( I have also reinstalled WMP11 to see if maybe that would
help...it didn't.
Thanks

Do you get the same audio issue when you play ripped content?
Also, these "new CDs" are they "enhanced" where they have their own
multimedia experience? Typcially they will launch on disc insert and can
sit
there running and dragging resources away from WMP playing the content.
What about audio enhancements? Hover the mouse over the Now Playing pane
and click the bottom part, you'll get a menu. Select Enhancements -> Show
Enhancements.
In the Now Playing pane a box will appear in the bottom portion of the
pane.
In that box in the upper left corner are two arrows, one pointing left
(back) one pointing right (forward).
Click the Right arrow until you get either SRS WOW or the graphic
equalizer.
Make sure they're both turned off.
Do you still have the audio issue?

Hi Jacquie,
The first thing I would do is try updating my audio drivers from the
Creative website. You'll need to go through the site to pick your
soundblaster version to get the right drivers.
