What file did you delete? It is far superior to rename the containing
folder as opposed to deleting the file. This is because deleting just the
file potentially does not reset a potentially corrupted cache.

that link was certainly more informative and provided a second directory
that
was an existing one and i was able to delete the file it told me i should,
however it doesnt seem to have resolved the issue and i'm at a loss. i'm
beginning to wonder if i should just download media player 10 again or
roll
back if it's still stored on my machine

I don't know where you got your instructions from but if you follow the
information at this website it will walk you through the proper steps for
resetting your library.

It never hurts to be sure so even if you've done this, humor me and try
one
more time. And please make sure you follow the directions for your
Windows
version as XP and Vista have the files in different locations.

i cannot add files to my library, when i read the trouble shooting
section it
suggested it could be corrupt database files and to delete some files
in a
directory and that the media player would recreate the files and work,
the
problem i have is that the directory doesnt even exist. i can create a
folder
but i suspect it will be missing some things... i am unable to find any
solution, or further information on this issue if you can help it will
be
appreciated
