RE: Media Sharing not working - Please help!

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Yep, I have a very similar situation with my Zensonic z500. It was working OK
under xp and then Vista Home Premium then suddenly not.
I have desktop Vista HP, Laptop Vista Business and the z500.
I set up media sharing on the laptop to see if it works and it is fine. The
laptop can also see the Desktop media server but the z500 can't. I can
however browse the files on the Desktop, it's only the media server I can't
see. Like you I have tried every imaginable trick to get it back with no
result.
Vista has not been a happy experience for me.

Hi All,

I have an odd issue with vista and i really hope someone can help me with
it, thanks for looking.

Ok i have Vista Home Premium on my laptop which is connected on a wireless
network on a linksysy router, also on the network are :-

Another Laptop (Windows XP Pro)
A Desktop P.C (Windows XP Media Center)
2 Xbox 360's
A PS3 (now with ability to stream from a p.c)

I have had vista installed for about a month now and all was fine with the
streaming functions for a few days, it worked perfectly then all of a sudden
my xbox or PS3 are unable to see/connect to the p.c, i havn't made any
changes to the vista configuration or anything it just stopped working.

This is the same for media browsing and media center extender (xbox 360)
During the set up process for each the p.c is not detected.

I know the router is functioning fine as i can see/connect to the other 2
computers from the Xbox or PS3.

Heres what i have tried so far :-

Turned off the firewall - didnt make any difference
Checked the network is 'private' - it is
Media Sharing has been set up from media player - all seems ok
Checked Xbox and PS3 are 'allowed' in media sharing - they are
System restore worked - But only until i restart the computer
Re-installed Vista - Again worked fine but the next day stopped working.

This is driving me insane and i've been trying for about 2 weeks now trying
to resolve it.

I work for Fujitsu in technical support, but have no knowledge of Vista and
the networking etc is a little different, maybe im missing somthing.

Please does anyone have any suggestions on what i can try? I have searched
the net for answers but no-one seems to have this problem.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, im sorry its quite long!

Cheers
Paul
