You can also get v9 directly from Microsoft- just click "Show All Versions"
and select version 9. Or go here:
http://microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/9series/default.aspx
Note that you can not/should not install older versions on top of newer
versions: it won't work right and will probably fail pretty badly. =\

I see so many posts in various places about people wanting WMP 9 back! I
upgraded to 10 (by mistake - thought I was getting an update for 9, turns
out
I got 10!). Hated it, but tolerated it for awhile thinking I'd get used
to
it -- but I didn't! Thought I'd try 11 to see if Microsoft listened to
all
the complaints about 10 and made improvements to 11 to be more like v. 9,
but
Noooooo! Now I find I can't even download 9 anymore! That stinks! How
could the powers that be at Microsoft think that versions 10 and 11 are
better than 9? What are they thinking?? If there are updates, then so be
it, but why screw up a good thing by totally revamping the whole look
(which
is horrid!) and user-friendly functions when everyone seemed quite
comfortable with 9? Is there any way, or any place, to download version 9
again? Ah, for the days of simplicity! Man! OTHER people can get it but
MY
priveleges have been revoked because I have XP! Not fair!
