I like to browse my albums by genre. My favourite view is icon (the default when browsing via 'albums'). However, when I go to genre and browse a particular genre, it defaults to expanded tile view and does not allow me to switch view to icon.

This is useless, as I have a large number of albums which takes ages to browse via expanded tile view - I would much rather just see the album covers as in icon view.

How can I fix this problem? Thanks !

There is no fix. This is another example of the inconsistent and amateurish user interface in Windows Media Player. While it has been pointed out to me rather strongly that Microsoft is not a garage operation, Windows Media Player 11 certainly seems to have come from one.
