If I ever said that, it wouldn't have made any sense whatsoever. I
apologize for ever saying something so utterly stupid and nonsensical.
Since I am a bear of little brain, I respectfully request that you never
again quote me or reference me, because while my stupidity and typos might
accidentally lead people towards solutions, they are not fit to be nor meant
to be the framework for arguments and certainly not citations on behalf of
third parties. What I say is probably always wrong, so just ignore me and go
about your merry way. I'm clearly challenged enough speaking on my own
behalf without being burdened with representing others. =)
There are many attributes stored only in the database and not in the file.
I can send you a link to the documentation if you're not aware of that.
I truly applaud those that use those fields. That's cool - metadata
libraries can be powerful tools. =)
Why? The data comes from the files. I've got tons of great stuff from
vinyl, cassette, etc - the library picks that data up from the MP3/WMA
file
and caches it (reflectively).
What about wav?
I truly appreciate the WAV RIFF metadata fans, or even the ones who don't
know about RIFF metadata but use the library to tag their WAV files anyways.
I applaud each and every one of them because I have a secret admiration for
vinyl/WAV.
That being said, since WMP doesn't have WAV metadata write-out, that
probably wasn't a good investment going forward unless you plan on always
copying your library from machine to machine. For that usage, I would say
the library has negative and counterproductive value, since there are ways
to update the files themselves that would seem way superior to that usage
path.
My clearly brain-dead comment was from the standpoint and opinion of myself
as an end user. That's about it, that's about all. You say "potatO", I say
"poTAHto", the world moves on.
I stand by my statement since my statement only reflects
what is in the readme.
Sure. But data store corruption can happen with any version of the player.
Using that as an "a-ha" doesn't make sense because the implication then is
that as long as you use WMP10 (or whatever), things will always be wine and
roses - but WMP11 should be way way more resilient in this space anyways.
*shrug* In my opinion, the more people have easy access to solutions to
bugaboos, the happier I am. Given how problematic WMP10 was in this space -
bearing in mind that I start to fret heartily once something goes over the
0.0000001% mark - and yes that's an actual number that I double-checked -, I
really appreciated having this stuff easily available for reference in
WMP11.
I couldn't give a fig about ANYthing other than this stuff working. <3
