I am having the same problem with a streaming audio from a paid
subscription
for a UK soccer team. I have done the DRM directory remove. Also the
http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp the upgrade
button is grayed out. The java script error is line 66 unspecified error.

So reinstalling Java won't affect your problem except perhaps
tangentially in Mozilla browsers which used to use Java to handle the
plugin scripting. Won't do any harm to have the up to date Java, mind.

RE those regsvr commands, see if you can "be administrator" before you
try them. I'm not 100% convinced they work on Vista, it's not
something I know if it's still applicable there.

I have Java Runtime (J2SE) 5.0 Update 9 on my machine.

I've registering the following dlls with the following results:

regsvr32 msnetobj.dll -> DllRegisterServer in msnetobj.dll succeeded.

regsvr32 wmp.dll -> The module"jscript.dll was loaded but the call to
DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c.

regsvr32 jscript.dll -> The module"jscript.dll was loaded but the call

DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80004005.

I'm uninstalling Sun java and going to reinstall to see what happpens.

My orginal post stated the following:

The following link does not work on Vista:

And renaming the DRM directory as denoted in the following registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DRM\DataPath

I even found http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/920928/en-us

FYI: The DRM folder was empty to start.

When I try to access the following page

I even tried the following link:

Hi Ken,

Thank you for posting here!

From your post, my understanding on this issue is: You have a DRM
issue on
Windows Vista. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me
know.

Based on my research, you may try the following steps to reset the DRM
store on the Windows Vista computer:

1. If Windows Media Player 11 is running, exit Windows Media Player
11.
2. Locate the DRM folder on the hard disk, and then rename the DRM
folder
to DRMbackup.
Note: By default, the DRM folder is in the following location:
C:\Programdata\Microsoft\DRM in Windows Vista.
3. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp
4. Follow the instructions on the Web site in order to update the
security
component of Windows Media Player 11. This procedure enables you to
obtain
new licenses for media content. You can also reset licenses for
purchased
content so that you can play that content on a computer.

More troubleshooting steps, also you may refer to the following
article -
If you run a program that can play digitally protected media files
during
the upgrade to Windows Vista Beta 2, you may lose access to the
digitally
protected content.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't
hesitate to contact me.

According to MS KB article: 925705
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925705/en-us), the following problem
can
occur:
SYMPTOMS
When you try use Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 to play a digital
rights
management (DRM)-protected media file or to obtain a new license for
media
content, the media may not play, or you cannot obtain a new license.
Additionally, you may receive any one of the following error messages:
Error message 1
The licenses for your media files are corrupted. (Error code
0xC00D2754)
Error message 2
Windows Media Player 11 cannot play the file because the associated
license
is either corrupted or not valid. (Error code 0xC00D11D6)
Error message 3
The license to play the packaged media is invalid
Error message 4
C00D277F - Secure storage protection error. Restore your licenses from
a
previous backup and try again

CAUSE
This problem occurs because the DRM store on the computer is not valid
or
is
damaged. This problem may occur for any one of the following
reasons:â??The
computer processor has been changed.
â??The computer motherboard has been changed.
â??A basic input/output system (BIOS) setting that affects the
computer
hardware has been changed. For example, hyperthreading has been
disabled.
â??The hard disk on which the media content was originally downloaded
has
been moved from one computer to another computer.
â??An application, such as the RegClean utility, changed DRM settings
in a
way that caused corruption.
â??Microsoft Windows has been reinstalled on the computer.
_____________________________________________________________________

In the case that a CPU upgrade does happen, what is the recourse to
resetting the DRM license store?

The following link does not work on Vista:
http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp

And renaming the DRM directory in the as denoted in the following
registry
key does not work either:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DRM\DataPath

Again what recourse is there to correct DRM licensing in the case of a
major
computer component upgrade in Windows Vista?

Two things I'd try here : One is to ensure you visit the indivsite
with IE, not Firefox. The script only works in IE. The second is to
make sure WMP is closed down when you visit the indivsite.

To avoid doubt, the page you should be trying is at
http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp

That's easier said than done, because some components of WMP run in
the background, listening for music devices to connect, or just
scanning for new media files. That shouldn't affect that site checking
the DRM components though.

In IE, if you were to turn on javascript error reporting, you should
see some sort of error. It would be helpful to write that error
message down and post that here.

You can turn on javascript error reporting by going to IE's Tools ->
Internet Options menu, choose Advanced then scroll down.

Untick the box labelled "Disable script debugging" for both IE and
"Other", and ensure "Display a notification about every script error"
is ticked. You'll want to change those back once you've got the error
message.

Another area in the browser to check : Tools -> Manage Add Ons
Click "Show add ons that have been used ..."

Scroll to the end of the list, you're looking for windows media
services DRM storage object (msnetobj.dll in the right hand column)

The Status column should read "Enabled". If it isn't, click it then
set it to Enabled using the radio buttons below. If it is enabled, try
to re-register the control : Go to windows Start menu, choose Run.

In the Run box, type in

regsvr32 msnetobj.dll

Press enter, wait for confirmation then close & restart IE and try
that web page again. You may have to repeat the above steps with

regsvr32 wmp.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

in case any of those components is damaged.

All the streaming services with no DRM (like TSN) work just fine.

None of the services seem interested in helping me and are referring
me back
to the OS. I am using WMP 11 though I had the same problem with 10
and the
upgrade didn't fix it. I have also tried uninstalling IE 7 and
reinstalling
it. Please assist. Thanks.

Unfortunately, unhelpful music services are the #1 reason why I don't
personally do pay per play using DRM encumbered players. When a
problem does occur (it's rare but there are large numbers of users 'in
play') then the problems cost real world $ as well as time.

HTH
