Im wondering why WMP11 always gets the information on a inserted AudioCD
wrong ? for example "Hits for Kids 16" doesnt eksist in WMP database.
When trying this in winamp & Itunes it works every time.
Couldnt find any settings in WMP to change the database used for the
information...
Any suggestions ?
Rip your CDs using iTunes. That's what I do. The CDDB database that iTunes uses is much more accurate than the Microsoft/AMG database. Even more accurate, so far, is the freedb database but freedb was recently sold to a company that makes its own media player software so it will end up losing its independence.
You can't change the data source for iTunes or for WMP. Some players that use CDDB by default can be reconfigured to use freedb because freedb was modeled after the original CDDB request/response system. CDDB has changed their system now to prevent that but they still support their old system because a lot of players use it.
Google for players that use freedb or CDDB if you want alternatives to Microsoft/AMG.
Interesting links:
http://www.gracenote.com - The CDDB database.
http://www.freedb.org - The freedb database.
http://allmusic.com - I don't know how tightly this AMG site ties in with the Microsoft/AMG database but it does have some great search and freely downloadable artist images. I do wonder if Microsoft's stated intent to change music providers has anything to do with AMG's support for iTunes on their site.
