The problem is I have a library of ~6500 songs that I just loaded on
this system from another system. Now, when I start WMP 10, it almost
immediatly caused the CPU load to go to 100% and completly disables
the system. I have let it sit for 24 hrs thinking maybe it was
reading through the library, but nothing changed. Are there any
setting I might fool with that could possible fix it?

Clarification:
I just rechecked my library (on disk). 57 Gb 20,075 files 2943
folders
I do not see why 57 Gb should be any problem unless you have used up
nearly all of the space on your HD and have limited RAM. But this sort
of case likely would slow nearly everything down - not just the WMP. I
don't use player libraries, because I have several players and don't
want to use a different library for each. I have about 200 GB of music
and video on an external HD that contains a variety of media types,
and I have no trouble playing from this personal library. One could
visualize that your WMP might want to search your added new library
files, and this could slow down the computer until completed. However,
after a reasonable time, this should no long be a problem.
