That's exactly the problem. WMP can't either. Either the permissions are
wrong or your registry is corrupt. If you can right-click on the key and
reset the permissions, you're in business. Otherwise, you may need to run a
registry restoration tool. In neither case will I have any premium advice
here: it's a registry access issue and I'm not going to have any better
advice than a good search for 'fixing registry corruption on Windows' would
likely give you. =\

Actually, I can't even open that key.
There is HKCR\WMP.Device and WMP\Device.1 and I can't open either.
When I try to open them, It says "Cannot open WMP.Device: Error while
opening key
Not sure how I can fix this, what do you think?

Looks you actually provided this the first time:
HKCR\WMP.Device
was in the original post.
Can you edit that key? That seems to be the corrupt key.

is before it. Note that the error repeats it self multiple times so the
stuff after is after the last error and the stuff before is before like
ten
errors.
Keep trying, you seem to know what you're doing

Not sure what the error is, but I do know that these lines repeat
themselves
over and over again. Here they are:
#E008 Setting registry value HKCR\WMP.Device
#E033 Error 5: Access is denied.
#E065 Parsing AddReg section [V9Reg.Univ] in
"e:\ef54aec6785e8fe0fc85d52c7cf64440\update\update.inf" failed.
Error
5:
Access is denied.
#E064 Parsing install section
[ProductInstall.GlobalRegistryChanges.Install]
in "e:\ef54aec6785e8fe0fc85d52c7cf64440\update\update.inf" failed.
Error
5:
Access is denied.
What should I do?
"zachd [MSFT]" wrote:
You would need to look at the bottom of c:\windows\updspapi.log .
That
should tell you what registry key modification resulted in "Access
is
denied". You would need then to give access to that registry
key...
or
at
least rename it for the duration of WMP's install. Look for "Error
5"
in
the updspapi.log.
What's that error?

Well, I downloaded the WMP 11 setup, and i run the installer.
when
it
is
finished installing, it says "It was not possible to complete
Setup.
For
more
assistance, click Web Help." This page has nothing
informative.
It
also
says,
"It was not possible to complete Setup; Windows Media Player
11
was
not
installed. Restart Windows and then run Windows Media Player
Setup
again."
This does not work. When I click on Web Help, The error code
