Re: windows media player 11 burn tab not working

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I think he's saying he did a clean install, not an upgrade, and that as a
result he doesn't even have Nero on Vista. So in good faith he's unable to
try what you're talking about.

OP: http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#xpcdburn should be helpful here. Let me
know if it needs further Vista updating. =\

Ohhhh.. So just because Nero worked fine with XP you assume it works fine
with Vista? You should spend some time in the Vista newsgroups.

Besides, if you know so much about what is not the problem, just continue
that list. As soon as the list is complete, the only thing that will not
be on the list is exactly what is the problem. Apparently you don't need
our help at all. :)

If you don't want to try any of the options or suggestions you get here,
why bother to ask the question here?

Good luck with your problem.

I am missing something here.

I have a brand new clean install of Vista (yesterday) without ANY other
Burning software loaded, and I have the same problem. Media Player 11
does
not see my Burner. This is same PC Hardware burned DVD's the day before
with
XP Pro and Nero, so that also cannot be a factor.

Any other solutions anyone?

I have a totally clean install of Vista with no other Burning software
loaded, and I have this same symptom with a known good hardware setup
which
worked fine on my previous OS with Nero etc.

You have identified 4 different CD burning applications on your PC:

Nero
Roxio,
Creative,
MusicMatch

Roxio is most likely the culprit and has caused burning problems a lot
in
WMP. I have seen some posts of burning problems in WMP caused
potentially
by Nero. Like I said, try uninstalling the software one at a time.
Start
with Roxio.

Any other possible solutions anyone?

Try uninstalling all other software that burns CDs, one at a time and
test

When I click on the burn tab in wmp 11 the icon in the top right
hand
corner
comes up and says 'connect a burner and restart the player'. I have
a
dvd/cd
burner attached already that works with every other program I have
(eg
Roxio,
Creative, Musicmatch etc). In tthe devices tab in options the dvd
burner
shows up ok. ANy ideas why I can't burn?
