Re: Vista + Urge = No joy

I am also experiencing this problem, and URGE has no response. I'm sorry,
but as indicated in some other posts, this IS a Microsoft problem as this is
the flagship of Vista media capabilities and MSFT's "answer" to Itunes plug
and play, so if they are going to partner with someone they best make sure it
works out of the box. I am running a brand new Vista Premium laptop and
cannot get URGE to install as in the other posts. Unfortunately, your
solution below does NOT work as the MTVN key does not exist under
Subscriptions and I do not have the developer skills to add any of that
without step by step direction. Please research this and provide as I'm sure
I'm one of many suffering this.

Thank you

If it's that issue, set these:
===
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Subscriptions\MTVN]
"Capabilities"=dword:00000058
"SubscriptionObjectGUID"="{847ae63a-d988-43ec-b1de-467079194d7e}"
"FriendlyName"="res://Urge.dll/RT_STRING/#4"
===
to fix it.

MTV / Urge support should be more helpful here, though.

If you want to try to debug this yourself and the above doesn't help, turn
on MSI logging:
===
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
"Logging"="voicewarmup"
===
, then instlal Urge. If it's a failure in Urge, there would be an
indication in the Urge log, located under %temp% - the filename is randomly
generated and is the most recent MSI*.log file.

This is something the Urge staff should know 10000x more about than anyone
here would. =)

As I said, "New Laptop w. Vista" (not an upgrade) and I get the same error
message (80040152) that Running Man described. I also get it at the same
point in the URGE install process (95%)

That may or may not be true.

My problem: in Vista, when I click on URGE in WMP 11 it trys to
install,
the
instalation goes swimmingly up to 95% and then I get the same error
message
RunningMan described. So the problem seems to be the same even if we
arrived
at it from different directions.

IN any case, I'm unable to follow your advice (unistall then reinstall
URGE)
since URGE doesn't show up in the Programs and Updates Dialog.

Could you define your problem as if it's your problem alone? If it's
a
new
laptop, it would not be possible for you to hit the XP-to-Vista Urge
upgrade
issue the original poster had hit. =\

I have had the same exat problem. New Laptop w. Vista (which I
otherwise
enjoy). Media player won't connect to the internet even though I
definitely
have a connection. All the MS help info says to uninstall and
re-install
URGE
but URGE does not appear in the Programs and Updates dialog so I
can't
figure
out how to uninstall it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Uninstall and reinstall Urge and you're good to go.

Known bug in their installer that they're aware of and I believe
are
addressing Real Soon Now.

Have installed Vista RC2 (build 5744) with whatever version of
WMP11
ships
with it (I know I'm supposed to like the new simple menu
structure
but
I
really wish I could just do a Help | About to know what the heck
I'm
running). When I click on the Urge button it downloads two files
and
starts
installing, but after getting to 95% it fails with error 80040152
and
the
message "It was not possible to complete Urge setup".

I get the same thing with MSN Music.

Any ideas (other than roll back to XP) that could get me back on
my
Urge
subscription? Is it possible to unload / reload the app?
