Just signed up on Audible.com and d/l and installed the software on my PC

kept trying to upgrade to WMP 10 (when I already have version 10), so I d/l
and tried to install WMP 11, only to receive this message:

Quote:
setup_wm.exe - Unable to Locate Component.
This application has failed to start because odbcbcp.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I have tried to reinstall the application, only to get the same message.
What can I do? Is there somewhere I can d/l the library file?

Vilmos
the odbc files are usually found in the MDAC redistribution

I Googled for MDAC and found ver. 2.80.1022.3 and d/l it from CNet. I tried
installing it, only to get this:
Quote:

MDAC 2.8 RTM

MDAC 2.8 RTM is incompatible with this version of Windows. All of its
features are currently part of Windows.

OK yes, it does sound a mess, though the original poster was correct
that dll file is part of MDAC, which are database access components
needed by WMP to manage its library functions.

The newest version is MDAC 2.8, service pack 1, which you can find at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=78cac895-efc2-4f8e-a9e0-3a1afbd5922e&displaylang=en

Let us know if downloading and installing that package is successful -
it should work but if not I'd have to refer you to somebody who knows
about how MDAC installer works, and what it checks for.

If it fails, you should run the MDAC component checker and post the
results here :

The steps to recover an "incompatible MDAC installer" are listed on
the MS support page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899861
