I am playing live streaming video on my MP 11 in XP Home, from a local TV
station.
When the buffer gets filled the streaming starts/resumes. If the delay is
too long, a message box appears saying "cannot play the file... server may
not be available..." (can't remember exact words) but it is error# C00D11B0.
Now, I know the buffer will be filled as and when it receives data. I have
NO COMPLAINTS about that. What irks me is this error message box that pops up
so quickly.
Can I do something TO PREVENT/DELAY THE MESSAGE BOX POPUP? Or atleast to
make sure the player waits for a buffer refill FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 MINS.
before it starts crying error # C00D11B0?

Oh, I'm not sure what the maximum buffering limit is offhand, it may
be 60 seconds. But sure, you can adjust that.

Go to one of the tabs, click the small drop down menu, choose More
Options then go to Performance tab.

Change the selection in Network Buffering from <use default> to buffer
<5 seconds of content> and change that to a larger value, suggest 30
seconds initially because setting that can delay start of playback,
obviously to that amount of time before the player begins playing.

Some streaming servers will overbuffer, that is they send data in
multiples (2 or 3x) of the required bitrate for playback, and that
fills the players buffer faster. It assumes that you have enough extra
bandwidth to do that at your end, and has to be configured at the
server end.
