I would second Dale's implicit suggestion to not use WMP for burning. I
strongly prefer Nero myself, but either should give you much more power and
flexibility and features than what WMP can offer as regards burning at this
point

Try uninstalling Roxio. There have been reported incompatibility issues
between WMP 11, IMAPI, and WMP 11.
And that's a way-old version of Roxio, as well. I think Sonic - who now
owns Roxio - is up to version 9 or so now.
If removing Roxio helps, either upgrade Roxio - a maybe fix - or decide
between Roxio or WMP for burning.
All that said, I do use Roxio for burning in Windows Server 2003 and not
Windows Media Player. I don't have any problems with it. I edit tags in
WMP
(though I am nearly completed writing my own tag editor) and still use
Roxio
to burn my CDs but I burn data CDs with MP3 files on them.

I can't get WMP11 to detect my burner. I have turned IMAPI on and set it

auto and made sure it was started. Still no detection. I have Roxio 5.2
but
it will not burn some products or allow me to edit tracks
