What file type are these files?

When WMP 11.0 starts playing a new song on any playlist the tempo of the
song
is altered during the first 2 or 3 seconds of playing. This can be very
annoying to listen to as you can imagine. I have not altered the play
speed
settings and they are currently set to 1.0 and the snap slider is not
selected. I have gone through every option I can think of but nothing
seems
to be applicable to solving this problem. Maybe it's a Codec issue? Any
help is greatly appreciated.
