Hendry, I don't have the OP's post here so this is for Patrick.
Patrick, when you originally ripped your WMA files from CD, did you have Windows Media Player configured to copy protect your media?
I have been told that it is not possible for WMP to suddenly add copy protection to your WMA files. It appears from your post that, while it may not add protection to your unprotected files, WMP can incorrectly expect or look for copy protection when it doesn't exist - which gives the same result: you can't use your media within your fair-use rights.
This is why I suggest never ripping your CDs as WMA. If you look in Wikipedia.com's article about WMA at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Audio you will see that there is no difference in audio quality between WMA and MP3. The only thing you have to gain by using WMA is compatibility problems especially DRM compatibility problems.
DRM is not a mature technology and when it breaks, it almost always costs the consumer money and not the DRM provider money. That's why it will be a long time before it gets fixed. I am a big supporter of copyright owners' property rights but I will do everything I can to avoid DRM in my own media until there is a stable, robust, and open/universal DRM implementation that does not put my media library at risk.

music ripped from CDs to my Philips GoGear mp3 Player. I am told that it is
protected content and only mp3 and wav files can be added. However, the music
I downloaded in wma works fine. I ripped music from a CD again and that was
added successfully. I would appreciate if someone could help me in thsi
matter and I thank you in advance

Any audio editing and converting software can be of use. Suggests FlexiMusic Wave Editor. Directly can't read WMA file in FlexiMusic Wave Editor, so play and record the Wma file in the software and then using the "Save As" command, convert and save the Wma file as Mp3 format. http://www.fleximusic.com/
