Same exact thing has happened to me. I reinstalled completely today and
I run a rig very similar to your, except I have a Geforce 6600 that
worked just fine before my re installation. I have lingering suspicion
that it may be a Windows Update hotfix and Nvidia driver
incompatibility causing the problem. i can seem to find a way to
isolate the problem however. One more important note, I have not codecs
installed except for the ones that can between original XP install and
SP2.
