Re: File Location Changes & Missing Databases

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

No, it's not moving, it's being copied, and they're not available in the
Recycle Bin. I'm sorry if my original message didn't "copy" make that clear.
The original file is in its place, C:\My Music.

If I close and reopen WMP11, it will display both. The C:\Recycler file is
usually missing a few tag items, which is the only difference.

This is what made me think it might be a database issue, which I still
cannot locate and is still not recreating itself.

Good ideas, but ....

C:\RECYCLER refers to your computer's (or actually your corresponding hard
drive's) recycle bin and S-1-5-21-3058293888-3870824739-2895235663-1005 must
be the SID of your user profile. If your original song is "moving" into this
folder, it probably means that your original song got deleted. That would
explain why WMP doesn't see your original song anymore. Open your recycle
bin and try restoring the song if it shows up there. However, I don't
understand that how come your original file remains in the original
location.

Hi all!
I'm a little frustrated at the lack of info on this one.
My mp3 files stored in C:\My Music are being copied into C:\Recycler, into
sequentially numbered folders, and they themselves are being renamed in
yet
another sequence of numbered files.

For example: C:\My Music\Linda Ronstadt\'It Don't Matter Anymore.mp3 is
now
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-3058293888-3870824739-2895235663-1005\Dc553.mp3

The original file remains in C:\My Music, but WMP11 doesn't list or refer
to
it any longer. Playlists also reflect the C:\Recycler version.

The C:\Recycler folder is NOT LISTED AS ONE TO BE SCANNED by WMP11.

I thought I'd try the database corruption instructions in KB (article not
numbered!!) "You cannot view, add, or delete items in the library in
Windows
Media Player 11." I followed instructions and deleted the database, but
contrary to the article, the database files didn't rebuild. At least,
they
didn't in anything resembling the indicated path. I'm sure it's some
place,
but I'm not finding it.

Does anyone have any ideas on what looks to me like these related issues?
Perhaps not related, but it would be more convenient!
Thank you,
Christine
