Re: Library - STILL cant add files to library

Nice, you bringed a good point.
i dont have any problem with my library except for those songs, you are
right about m4a that wont be added. Just realised that all i wanted to add
was already converted into .m4a
lol
So the Orban Aac/Aacplus plugin should be patched for wmp to recognize those
files and add them to library?

"zachd [MSFT]" wrote:

Well, if they're M4A files, WMP doesn't natively support those. They would
only be added to the library if the 3rd party filter that adds support for
them registered them properly. So the first question is- is the library
broken? You would know that because you will be able to or not be able to
add MP3/WMA files to it. If the library's broken, M4A won't work either.
If the library is working but M4A won't add, then your 3rd party filter is
broken.

I think I sent that filter author some tips a bit ago - I don't know what
version you have, but you may want to follow up with them.

Another clue from Zach (the Microsoft employee who used to post in this
newsgroup)'s website is to create a new user on your PC and see if
they're
able to add those same files to their media library. That might help
differentiate between library problems and media file problems.

still, files detected 4640, added 0

Ah, now we're getting somewhere. WMP 11 doesn't support AAC out of
the
box.
Go to http://www.orban.com/plugin.

Thanks for the answer, but problem isnt fixed
System restore actually bring back factory settings on harddisk, but
i
dont
think its formating it.
Files are in AAC (.m4a) and i can play them when i double click.
They
just
wont be added to library. The problem is only the persistent absence
of
<files-to-be-in-labrary> in my library.
Songs are well tagged in my ipod, and in my library when <actually
playing>.
i made sure everything was checked (or unchecked), and even tried
all
possibilities to make very very sure...
I went on ZACH's website. Nothing helped me. tried all that was
explained
there.
Any suggestions?

How were the media files restored after you formatted your hard
drive?
Or
did you do a system restore that didn't actually format the hard
drive?
What is the format of your backed up files - WMA, MP3, AAC, etc?
Can
you
play the files by double-clicking?

There is a setting in WMP that says to add files previously deleted
from
library. Did you make sure that was checked?

If you did, in fact, format the hard drive and your backup copies
of
your
media will not add, I would suspect corrupt ID3 tags or MP3 data
next.

Generally, there are two things that will prevent files from being
added:
Corrupt media files (either the ID3 tags, the MP3 data, or both) or
corrupt
library database files (not your media files). You can find
instructions
on
Zach (the Microsoft employee who used to post in this newsgroup)'s
website
at http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html for deleting and re-creating
your
library database files. To eliminate the ID3 tags, find a tag
editor
that
will remove the tags completely and save the resultant file. If it
now
can
be added to WMP, you can manually recreate the tag data.

Let us know the answers to those questions and whether or not the
other
steps help. Be sure to let us know, even if the steps above fix it
so
others can benefit from your experience.

ok listen carefully. I read all threads about this in here, i
read
forums
here and there, there is literally no apparent way to add files
to
my
library.
I use winXP media center and windowsmediaplayer11

When i first added my 20 gb of music on windowsmediaplayer11, it
also
added
all the crappy songs i have here and there, and istead of
removing
them
individually, i decided to delete all, then to add only "My
music"
file
to
library, easiest and fastest way.

No way to get back files into my library, once deleted, they are
deleted.

I tried to rollback, uninstall using the safe mode and all as
specified
in
a
thread here, didnt work

I tried to delete the wmbd files, even by searching thems, even
by
deleting
complete file "media player", even by renaming .bak, didnt work.

I tried to FORMAT "Acer System Recovery", complete C: was erased,
rollback
to the brandnew configuration, backed up all my important files
on
my
60gb
ipod (lol)
and it didnt work...............

Just reinstalled ONLY the necessary components ; Updates, Msn,
Azureus,
iTunes, Microsoft Word...

Omg, How is it possible !!!!!
