I have the WMP11, I don't know which one you have. At least on the 11,
do this:
I assume the problem is on the WMP only. If not, the problem could be
caused at many places in the computer or the monitor.
With the WMP on but not playing anything, select the now playing mode
from the tab near the top of the screen. Click on the view tab near the
top of the screen > select enhancements > select video settings. You
will see 4 slider bars for hue, brightness, saturation and contrast.
The settings for all of these should be at the mark on the center of
the bars if someone has not changed them. If not, click the reset link
just above the bars. Also examine any other special effects settings
that you can find. There are also other settings you get to with the
left/right navigation arrows.
Do you have someone else using the computer, especially a child? A few
years ago a lady reported to a NG that the image on her monitor screen
was upside down. There were many suggestions concerning monitor
settings, but none worked. Finally someone asked if anyone else used
the computer. The lady found out that her children had learned how to
do it at school. It is on a menu many levels deep that many do not know
about.
