Re: Can WMP11 burn MP3 to CD?

Thanks, but this does not solve my problem. I want to be able to lower the
bit rate of the files in my library as they are burned to CD. Yes, I know
that I can first use a utility to convert the files then burn the selected
files to CD, but that is time consuming and I'll end up with two copies of
each track (one in original bit rate the other at the lower bit rate).

The problem is the definition of an "MP3 CD" versus a "Data CD".
Basically, an MP3 CD is a Data CD with a play list in it. The playlist
format may differ from application to application. The ability of your
car player to recognize or use that playlist will vary from player to
player. So, my recommendation is to do what I do for my own including my
factory GM player that doesn't recognize a playlist and an aftermarket
model in another car that would recognize a playlist: Just burn your MP3
tracks as data files, effectively creating a Data CD using Windows
Explorer or the light version software that came with your burner.

The only problem I have encountered this way was that my aftermarket
player seems only to be able to randomize on about 10 tracks instead of
the whole CD so I wrote a program to add a random prefix to all the file
names with the result that now I can play the CD in order and get randomly
played tracks.

Does this answer your question exactly about WMP burning MP3 disks?
Probably not, but it does provide the desired result. I don't use WMP for
anything I can do outside of WMP and the more DRM, spyware, or adware that
gets built into WMP, I'll use it even less and less.

Dale

My car audio system will decode MP3 files, but it will not decode WMA
files. WMP11 has an excellent feature that allows you burn tracks to CD
using a lower bit rate - WMP11 does the conversion on the fly.

While my entire library has been ripped in 320Kbps MP3 format, WMP11
insists on burning these tracks to CD in WMA format - this does me no
good whatsoever.

Are there any plug-ins, or alternate solutions, that will allow me to
create a playlist from my library, select a burn bit rate, and have the
tracks converted to the selected bit rate on the fly (without creating
duplicate files), then burned to CD in MP3 format?

I've Googled my a** off but can not find a solution.

Ideas?
