I just discovered something wierd about PNG support. Last night, I uploaded some sample pictures of my Media Player wrapper and tag editor that I have mentioned here. They're at http://www.dalepreston.com/mp3manager.htm.
I created the screenshots on my Windows Server 2003 laptop using Microsoft Image Composer and saved those screenshots as PNG. I have used the same scenario for about 7 or 8 years - minus the W2K3 portion - to save screenshots for whatever reason I may need them and never had a problem.
Now, those images work great when viewed in IE7 but show up as solid black when viewed in IE6. While I might expect a new PNG handler in Vista and IE7, I didn't expect it in W2K3 and IE7. Apparently problems with PNG will continue in Microsoft products.

AFAIK, WMP 11 doesn't support PNGs.

Just installed the final release of WMP11 on my XP Home and XP Pro
machines being mostly interrested by the "Pictures" support (which was
extremely basic in older version). I noticed that while scanning
folders, WMP11 found JPG files but none of the PNG ones. Is there a
configuration item I missed?
