Probably I wasn't very explicit : If you go to SomaFM, and choose e.g.

Works fine for me in WMP11. Then try the Orban AAC plugin - install
that from here http://www.orban.com/plugin/
Next, restart WMP and attempt to play the Windows Media aacPlus
stream for Groove Salad (for example) and see if it's working on that
stream type. These tests might indentify if it's a network stream
type, or an audio encoding type of problem you're having.
Yes the specific track you mention works for me on WMP11 in the WMA
link. After downloading the AACplus plugin, that link also works.
While on the station, if you right click, check properties, and get the
url of a song link, you can bring up the real player, paste in the url,
and it will work for both links you mention without a plugin for the
ACCplus. Real now supports most of the Microsoft audio and video
formats as well as Real and several other formats without additional
plugins. Of course the most recent Real player has been around long
enough to have most of the more serious bugs ironed out.
I had several plugins from various sources to play flac, ape, ogg, etc
on the WMP10, but these are all not working after upgrade to WMP11. It
likely will be a while before some such plugins are updated. These
plugins came from various sources other than Microsoft.
Another interesting thing is that the store link for buying music on
the WMP11 on the right top of the player is Napster! Roxio bought
Napster after it became a legal download store, and they include it in
their elaborate recent media suite programs. In some way unknown to me,
Napster managed to become king of the hill on the WMP11 screen, beating
out various download services from Microsoft, Apple, and Real for this
spot. This is of no interest to me, as I do not buy downloads because
they are compressed usually. I would only buy a download if it is an
uncompressed CD file or a DVD standards video file for burning at the
same standards of the commercial DVD. Of course a full movie at DVD
standards now runs up to about 8 GB and is often on a dual layer disc.
Movies already are quite compressed on DVDs and that is the reason for
the higher resolution HD DVDs now being introduced. Any more
compression of a DVD movie is a step backwards, especially when
download sites often want nearly as much for their over-compressed
movie as you pay for the commercial release.
