The steps that I followed were:

1. I downloaded and installed WMP 11 onto a computer running WMP 10 on XP
Pro SP2. In other words, I upgraded from WMP 10 to WMP 11.
2. I attempted to view DRM-protected content for which I did not yet have
a
license. However, I did have a paid subscription to the site which allowed
me
to download the content. When I doubled-clicked the file, WMP 11 attempted
to
access the license server. I then received the error message stating that
"Cookies must be enabled during license acquisition". When using WMP 10, I
had no problem accessing the license server.
3. Rolled back to WMP 10 and uninstalled the WMP 11 runtime file as
previously mentined in this thread.
4. Problem solved.

What web site? The question would be what exact steps someone else would
need to follow to encounter your issue..

It appears to me that there is a problem. In addition to the incidents
reported by all of the users in this and other threads, I know of at
least
one Web site that informs users to rollback to WMP 10 and uninstall
"Windows
Media Format 11 runtime" when they purchase a subscription to the site.
I
don't know the exact nature of the problem, but the result is always a
message back stating that cookies must be enabled. Speaking for myself,
I
never used the beta versions of IE or MP 11. I only downloaded the
post-beta
versions.

How are you guys repro'ing this *exact* problem? As far as I'm aware,
this
was a beta issue only fixed a long time ago. So I'm puzzled.

If there **is** a bug here, this is the kind of thing that really
needs
to
get taken to product support so it can be dealt with-

As far as I'm aware, there's no bug in WMP/DRM/IE here that they're
aware
of..... ?

I had the exact same problem with Media Player 11 on XP Pro SP2. I
fixed
it
by
rolling back Media Player to version 10 and also uninstalling a
program
called "Windows Media Format 11 runtime" through the Add/Remove
Programs
untility in the control panel. I no longer receive an error message
stating
that cookies must be enabled.

Looks like Media Player 11 is a typical Microsoft product. It's
released
with many bugs. The lesson learned here is to never use Microsoft
software
until it's been out in the market post-beta for at least a year.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT NEW MICROSOFT UPGRADES: Windows Media files
will
NOT
work if you upgrade to both Windows Media Player 11 and Internet

7.
Please do not upgrade both programs together. When you attempt to
view a
DRM
protected Windows Media movie with WMP 11, an error comes up asking
you
to
turn your cookies on, even though they are on. We have not
discovered
a
fix
for this Microsoft bug. As soon as we do we will let everyone know.
