SOLVED!!!!!!
I was able somehow to change access to that key and WMP 11 installed normally.
Thanks for your help.

I'm not familiar with/don't use registry repair software and as such would
not be able to make any good recommendations, sorry. It's simply an area
that I don't have experience with. I would imagine most system validation
tools would be able to do this kind of thing, but -- it's simply an area I
haven't done work in and as such do not have any useful expertise. Your
local computer stop might have good recommendations. =)

Thanks for reply.
I fixed the privileges on that key for complete access using right-click.
I then tried to reinstall WMP 11 but still got an error.

I tried to repair the "Windows Media Player" key above using the same
method
but with no success. I am unable to do anything with this key (e.g.
rename,
delete, permission change) getting an "access is denied" error.
What next?
What registry repair tool can u suggest?
Thanks for your patience and advise.

Right, that's the problem WMP is having too. You would need to fix the
privileges on that key that somehow got corrupted. If that's not
possible,
your registry may be corrupt, and you would need to run a registry repair
tool. =\
