Windows Media Player Library Odd Behaviour

Hi. I had WMP 10 installed on my Windows XP with SP2. I tried using the
Media Library feature of the same but after adding almost all my files
to the library, I noticed that a lot of my files were suddenly locked
or corrupted. I mean I couldn't play them on WMP nor Winamp or any
other player of this sort. Another vague thing was that whenever I
right click on those files, instead of the usual 22 options I get
starting from "Play in Winamp" to "Properties", I get only 11 starting
from "Play in Winamp" and the last one being "Send To". But it doesn't
play. I download music off the peer to peer network, so I'm suspecting
this action of WMP to completely disable the file as a step against
piracy. I could be wrong. I read all the questions of Zacks page
regarding WMP issues and couldn't find an answer to this one. I
searched here but no one seems to have a problem like me. Also would
like to add, that I installed WMP 11, and the same thing happened.
Again a couple of more files were locked. Couldn't play them anywhere.
In one case, the complete folder was locked and it's size was
automatically reduced to 0 bytes. And the same 11 options for that
folder too. In the end, I downloaded this player called VLC which could
play these files. But WMP and Winamp still couldn't. So would really
appreciate any help reagarding this. As I really want to use the WMP
Library feature and not lose my music.
My System Specs:-
Windows XP with SP2
I have Winamp, Nero.
