Re: Encountered an error and must close

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately turning off overlays
doesn't help. I haven't changed hardware. I don't like the thought but would
reinstalling windows solve the problem? Uninstall, reinstall DirectX??

This is a crash down in the DirectX 3D memory allocation code. You may be
able to turn off overlays in WMP's Tools:Options:Performance:Advanced to
work around this... ?

This would appear to potentially be a hardware based error, though (although
it could be driver based). If something changed in that arena recently,
that would be very suspect.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know such a thing as this was avail.
The bucket number is 337195286.
There is a second error line about "faulting application----"
Looking at the error log from yesterday for the same problem I see a
diffeent bucket number 327771280 if that is any help.
I tried going back to WMP #9 from 10 and no dif, I also downloaded WMP 11
which is what is on now, no dif.
WMP plays MP3 and .wav files fine.

Media player has been working fine, playing movies, videos music etc,
Now
when i try to play a video (AVI) file it returns the subject error.
Clicking
on send error report returns no further help.
It still plays songs OK.
I downloaded another player (Real Player) and it does the same thing so
there must be something common.
The files I am trying to play must be OK as if I access them through my
laptop (via wireless network) they play on the laptops Media Player.
Someone sugested to uninstall MP and reinstall. Looking at "add/remove
programs" I do not see MP in there. How to uninstall and reinstall??
