Album Art is a WMP feature that others have decided to run with, which makes
WMP's life interesting. If you aren't directly plugging in through WMP,
you're not really supported.

If you want to plug in your own album art, I believe you would want to set
the "Content Provider" field (to "Me" or whatever makes you happy), which
would keep WMP11 from automatically retrieving any data for that content and
thus potentially overwriting your plugged-in art.

Unless you put the manual art into the tags, WMP will overwrite your
changes.


i believe it thinks the art exists because it does not give me the
"generic" image (musical note+film picture)

Album Art is a bit of a mess in this beta release so I don't think it's
too productive to fight it (anything and everything could change in the
final release).

A further art-tag issue I've bugged is that you have no access to the
tagged artwork through the Tag editor after you've added it.
