I did a quick google on the group archive and found someone else who didn't solve the problem with a pane-switch. I know there have been others.

Not so. I had the problem myself on v10 and had to do the reboot. Others reported the same.

A reboot is never necessary: switching panes will always fix it up. =\

It's a long-known bug. Generally switching away to another pane, or possibly rebooting will clear it. If that doesn't, then there isn't a known solution AFAICT.
