It would be better if the MIME type returned from your server was
"video/avi". Right now you are returning "video/x-msvideo", which is
somewhat deprecated (all "x-" types are generally deprecated, to my
knowledge). But that's not critical, and should be correctly handled by any
system.
The Indeo video should be removed from your test suite: that will fail and
is expected to fail, per my earlier comments. Cinepak and MS MPEG4 v1
should likely work still, but Indeo sure as heck won't and thus is
distracting to both of us.
What specific error do you get when trying to play back the Cinepak clip on
the systems that won't play it?

Thank you for your interess.
If you go to www.candidopereira.net/teste
you can see the files I am testing. In my pc i can display all the
videos if they are at my desktop but at the server if i try to load
then directly wmp starts but is unable to play the files except the wmv
file. Loading the html file where the videos are embed, i get the same
result.

As luck would have it, I happen to be an expert in file associations. If
you go to WMP's Tools:Options:File Types and reassociate there, that will
fix associations. If that doesn't fix you up, if you could explain the
association issues you feel you're dealing with, I may have insight.
The codecs may be extremely important here - what I'm asking is a pretty
important question. =)

I think I am near of the solution. The problem seems to be a File
Association mess and also a MIME Handling problem.
The File Association it was easy to solve but the MIME issue it's
difficult. I am reading this article to try something.

Thank you
CP
PS. The codec is not important because the problem ocours with files
with diferent codecs.

What codec do the files use?
Not all computers have this fix, which is why I ignored that element of
your
report. If you are using Indeo, what I said is accurate.

thank you for your answer but the codec is not the problem. As I said
the files work fine in many pcs but not in others. I'm shure the
problem is on the pcs where it ocours but I don't find what is it
because everything else works fine.

Do the files in question use the Indeo video codec? If so, this is by
design. Either contact Ligos (owners of Indeo now) and ask them about
it,
or (and you will probably want/need to do this anyways) convert the
files
to
use another codec.

AVI files plays fine if they are located on the desktop, but not when
they are coming from a internet server in WMP9, WMP10 or WMP11. But
this only happens on some PCs with XP and not on others similar ones.
WMP don't identify the error.
The message is something like this: "Windows Media Player can not play
the file. This might be because other application or some component of
the operating system have a problem but can not communicate it to the
windows media player".
In portuguese the mesage is the following: "O Windows Media Player não
consegue reproduzir o ficheiro. Isto poderá ocorrer se outro programa
ou componente do sistema operativo encontrar um problema mas não
comunicar a sua natureza ao Media Player."
I try turn off the firewall and... nothing.
I clean the registry and... nothing
I upgrade de WMP and... nothing
Now I don't know what to try.
