Hello all.
Here's the deal. HP Pavilion Notebook, Intel Celeron 2.8, 512meg ram, 80
gb
HDD, mostly empty, XP Home, SP2, all available updates, Media Player 10.
with all updates. Player has been working fine, playing pretty much
anything I wanted to. I use Media player 10 for all audio cds, ripped
audio
files and Windows wmv files. Yesterday it all worked, today Media Player
10
will only play DVD and nothing else. For example, if I try to play any
cut
ripped from a cd, (these have worked fine for months and months) Media
Player issues error message

Error ID = 0xC00D11CD, Condition ID = 0x00000000

which, of course tells me nothing. Additionally, the data describing the
file turns orange and places an exclamation point in front of it. If I
try
to play an entire cd stored on HDD, MP10 runs down data for every track
doing the same thing until there are no tracks remaining. There
everything
stops. I have tried upgrading to MP 11 Beta, but it will not complete
installation. I have tried to roll back to MP 9. Rollback seems to
work,
but still can't play these files. Tried to reinstall MP 10 but that
would
not complete either. Restored system to point several days ago, when
everything worked. MP 10 still presents same error symptoms. Microsoft
is
of no help. Have searched high and low on the net, downloaded new codec
files. No change. OBTW, between the time MP 10 was working and when it
was not, nothing was added, changed or removed from the notebook. It was
powered off.

This is making me more crazy than ever.

It has got to be something dumb but easy to fix, but I am at my limit.

Anyone got the fix for this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Rich
