HELP! CNN and MSNBC videos play wthout sound

Hi there,

I don't know if this is the right place or not to ask for help. When I play
videos from CNN they play fine but no sound.

When I play videos from MSNBC there commercials have sound but when the news
item starts it always has no sound.

I've Been in contact with MSNBC help and they asked me to do all the
following which I have done to no avail...

"1. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11.

a. Click "Add or Remove Programs" in Category View of Control Panel.
b. Click "Remove a program", and then, at the top of the list, select the
"Show updates" check box.
c. Click "Windows Media Player 11" in the Windows Updates section, and
then click "Change/Remove".
d. If prompted, restart your computer, and then log on as an administrator
or a member of the Administrators group.
e. Click "Add or Remove Programs" in Control Panel.
f. Click "Windows Media Format 11 Runtime" In the "Windows Updates"
section, and then click "Change/Remove".
g. If prompted, restart your computer, and then log on as an administrator
or a member of the Administrators group.
h. Click "Add or Remove Programs" in Control Panel, and then click "Remove
a program".
i. Click "Microsoft User-Mode Driver Frameworks Feature Pack 1.0", and
then click "Change/Remove".

2. Restart your computer.

3. Install the version of Windows Media Player appropriate for your
operating system.

For Windows XP and 2003 operating systems, please install the latest version
of Windows Media Player (v10) since Windows Media Player 11 is still under
beta testing. To download Windows Media Player 10, visit the following Web
site:

"

<Same problem still>

Then they suggested:

"If the Player communicates an incorrect connection speed to the server, the
server may try to thin the stream, which means that the stream quality
decreases and the Player may lose video altogether.

You can prevent this from happening accidentally by manually specifying the
connection speed. In Windows Media Player 9 or later, you can specify your
connection speed, by doing the following:

1. On the "Tools" menu, click "Options", and then click the "Performance"
tab.
2. In the "Connection speed" area, click "Choose connection" speed, and then
select the appropriate connection speed.

Furthermore, please follow the suggestions below:

1. Please visit the link below to download and install new codecs.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

2. Check for updates for the driver software for your graphics adapter and
Microsoft DirectX® from the Windows Update page by visiting:

Link 1: Windows Update

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

Link 2: Microsoft DirectX

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx?url=/windows/directx/downloads/default.htm

After performing the suggestions, please restart your computer and try
viewing videos again.

If your issue persists, try to reinstall your sound card driver. To do this,
please contact your sound card manufacturer for further assistance."

The videos still played without sound apart from the commercials.

Please help!

Jed
