well, i am not totally guilty. see thread subject:
poor sound quality when upgrading to media 11
As for the volume and settings, there are settings thru the monitor menu
system. Its a Sony Flat Screen LCD. I am going through them now and the bass
and trebble are normal and the WOW is OFF. I also downloaded WINAMP and
played a music CD from the CD player and it sounded the same. Sooooo, I am
more entuned to believe you at this point. The speakers. But for the life of
me, I did get a few days of good play time with normal, non-shitty sound. The
only thing I did was download a paint program inbetween all this mess -
though since I restored my system back to before I did that, and the sound
still sounded poor, then that probably wasn't it.....
perplexed in cyberspace.....

Gawd you've hijacked *another* thread !.
Then at this point I'd probably borrow or buy some other speakers for
$10 and try them, to eliminate the LCD monitor. Are you sure there's
no on-screen display for the LCD that allows you to set the speaker
volime on those ?

Neil - sorry bout not posting this in a new thread. ;-(------------------------------------------------
I did try those things with WM10, and very little change - its mostly
"static" coming thru. I have standard speakers (el-cheapos), and don't have
any fancy bass settings on them. In fact, I am basic in that my little
speakers on attached on my LCD. So I am sure its not that..... Its still
shitty - should I "revert" back to my previous install point prior to
engaging WM11? ......

So this is a totally different problem isn't it - he had *no* sound at
all, where you do but it's shitty. You'd have been better starting a
new thread.
If you go to WMP11, click the tiny down arrow under Now Playing
button. Select Show Enhancements. Now, scroll through the list till
you get to Graphic Equaliser. Turn that off clicking the text
provided, then click the Reset text.
Next, go to the Play Speed settings, and click the text labelled
Normal. Now, go to Quiet Mode and turn that off. Finally, go to SRS
WOW Effects, and click Turn Off there too (ignore any of these options
where the text reads Turn On, since they're already off)
How's it now ? The same settings are available in WMP10 from the View
menu Show Enhancements.
Finally, turn off all the buttons on your speakers that provide Bass
Boost, Karaoke, etc etc. Now try to play your file.

WinXP, my intro .wave file sounds aweful. Something happened to the low level
audio drivers when i installed WMP11. I REMOVED WMP11 and went back to WMP10,
and my audio sounds the same - real bad. Any ideas? Do I need to reinstall XP
to fix this? help......

I have windows media player 11 beta, but the sound won't work on music,
movies, etc. Sound works sporadically on a few other programs, though.
How can I help this?
