Re: Streaming playback won't initiate in WM10?

I have this same issue. All over the web I look for a resolution. Pouring
over the Microsoft Knowledge base for hours only offers headaches. I see
other people that have this same issue. I cannot stream content online. I
also cannot play most files on my computer, and I cannot use Windows Movie
Maker. I can play audio files of most types. However sometimes I can stream
the video but get no audio. The standard replies are check this and that and
while appreciated fail to help. Out of the blue this problem happens. One
day it works. The next day it doesn't. No amount of tweaking-un-reinstalling
works. The only thing that temporarily works is reformating the drive. Then
after a month or so boom. No media player. I have gone into sysedit and
edited the ini file and got some file types to work. All other players
stream fine. The only error messages I get are 'windows cannot play the
file.' Sometimes I will see the 'searching for-downloading codec-error
downloading codec' for common file types in the tray. (wav, mp3, etc.) Dear
God, Help end my suffering!!

a) clean the IE tmp files (in IE tools/options/delete cookies-files and
history
b) verify that your proxy settings are correct
select either Autodetect proxy settings or Use proxy settings of the Web
browser
configure protocol settings: tools/options/network/in streaming protocols
area select all (multicast,udp,tcp and http)

I have Windows Media Player Version 10.00.00.4036, and am running Windows
XP.
Occasionally, websites such as www.wwe.com will use WMP for all there
streaming video. When I click to view a video, the page opens and the WMP
window says "Connecting to Media" and successfully does so. It goes
through
"Buffering" and then ends at "Ready". It then sticks at the "Ready"
stage,
and does not play the video. If I hit the play button, it repeats the
process
and sticks right where it did the previous time.
How do I get the video to begin streaming.
