Re: WMP 9 assigns wrong artist: Is there a fix for this?

I had a look at one of my test case albums: a single-track CD single of Vangelis & Sean Connery, by the name of "Ithaca". I've blogged about this being repeated identified by v10 as a 10-12 track Madonna Album.

I just looked at it now, and it's been rewritten as Track 1 of Fat Boy Slim's Palookaville.

Now that's what the library displays in the fields next to the thumbnail. When I go to EDIT those fields, they revert to the proper information. This is one example of how the display issues in WMP v11 (same on XP and Vista) mask trying to work out what the library is doing.

In a similar vein (display-wise) noticed that the Peter Grant album "New Vintage" has identical metadata for the 4 album field criteria. When I view it in the library, it's split into 4 separate groupings. If I search for it then I'm told there is one album, and if I click on that album, then I get two identical thumbnails with the one album's tracks split between them. When I drill down to showing the entire album, I get the 4 separate groupings. This is typical of what I see across the board for many albums, including ones I've have *just ripped* with v11.

Trying to get good repros for more severe problems, when the information presented changes continually in one session is very difficult.
