Re: WMP 11; video encoding without device

WMP's a player, not a hard core converter. Use Movie Maker if you want to
do dedicated conversion tasks. =)

I have a Toshiba Gigabeat S. I also have a bunch of xvid videos I encoded
myself (.avi extension). I cannot figure out how to convert these .avi
files
to .wmv without having my Gigabeat physically connected to my computer. It
seems the only way to initiate the conversion is to connect my device,
then
build up the sync list (or appropriate playlists), then start a sync.

What I'd like to do is select all the videos, right-click them, select the
"Convert to a .wmv format that's compatible with my device" option, then
leave my computer on for three days while it completes the conversion.
Obviously, I'd rather not have to leave my device attached to the computer
(and thus useless) during those three days.

Can WMP do this? If not, why not?
