I have a real elementary and simple-minded question. I want to convert wma
files to wav and MP3. I have WMP 10. I tried to download the Plus! Audio
Converter update from Microsoft, and I got this message: "ACInstall.exe -
Unable To Locate Component. This application has failed to start because
ATL70.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
What can I do to get past this problem and get the update, or should I just
get WMP 11?
It's far from elementary, dear Watson : According to one site
"What is atl70.dll?
atl70.dll (ATL Module for Windows (Unicode)) is a component from the
software Microsoft® Visual Studio .NET version 7.0.0 by Microsoft
Corporation. atl70.dll version 7.0.0 has a file size of 84,992 bytes,
and is most commonly found under the directory "system32" with a
creation date of January 5, 2002. This is not a known spyware, adware,
or trojan component."
Now if that's the only place it's found, it means you've somehow got a
copy of Visual Studio on your system and it's become broken (and the
conversion used by Plus Audio depends on it).
I can't see how that might have happened unless you had VS on your PC
somewhere, and that's a developer tool....
Any of this starting to ring any bells ? Stop me if I'm wrong...
