Hm. I don't think it's documented explicitly anywhere - you can note it
most effectively by inspecting the relevant WMP package that you're planning
on installing. I'm probably in a relatively unique situation of having
archives of all the player releases... no XP-unique version of the player
since v8 has included l3codeca.acm in the package. So the only possible
install onto XP that would cover this is the "Windows 2000" package for
WMP9. =\

I would probably advise against doing this - that file is not always
redistributed by WMP, so it may not be recoverable. =\

go to C:\Windows\System32\l3codeca.acm
rename the file as l3codeca.bak.
Open wmp and go for updates (that reinstall the mp3 decoder
start/run/type: regsvr32.exe l3codeca.acm
and try
