Re: Is it Ok To Install WMP11 ?

Look, I know about this. What this means is that if I have media files
scattered all over my HD, I will need to add each folder separately. By the
earlier method, I could make WMP a whole drive very easily. This method of
adding select folders is closer to the iTunes library concept, and I don't
know why.

Hi,
"When you start WMP11 for the first time, it automatically searches
certain
default folders on your computer for music, video, and picture files, and
then adds those files to your library". If there are other folders you
would
like the Media Player to monitor, go to Tools/Options and select the
"Library" tab. Click on "Monitor Folders", there you can Add folders to
monitor. Clicking on the link "Learn more about monitoring folders" will
provide you more useful information.
I hope this helps.

He's talking about the automatic search all files on drives and add to
media
library feature. Is that gone or is it hidden away somewhere?

Hi,
Yes, you can add either folders, files or URL's to the media library
manually. Open Windows Media Player 11, click on File and select
either
"Open" or "Open URL". Browse to where the folder or file is located,
right-click the folder or file and select "Add to Windows Media Player
list".
It would be nice to have the feature displaying the total size and time
of
your music and or video library implemented back into the media player.

Hi All,
Is it just me or is there no way to add either folders, files, or URLs
to
the media library manually in a similar way to how it's done in WMP
10?
The
help files only list ripping CDs, buying songs online, selecting
specific
folders for WMP 11 to monitor, or hoping that WMP 11 adds whatever
tracks
or
clips you're playing at the time as the only means of adding stuff to
your
media library.
That and the fact that WMP 11 only displays the total number of
minutes
or
hours for a given playlist/album instead of also giving the total size
in
megs or gigs are the 2 things whose exclusion from the new version I
don't
get. I doubt they're unpopular features.
And of course it'll take Nero a while to release a plug-in that works
with
WMP 11, but I'm sure we can all live without it for now haha.

Hi Sue,
What feature are you looking for that's been removed in WMP11? Most
likely
it's still there...you just have to look a little harder.

I agree - Im all for change and improvements but don't understand
why
features are removed in new versions! Im going to uninstall and go
back to
WMP10 for the time being.

I have just downloaded WMP11 but having a few user issues see
my
post below.
Installation went fine no problems.
I notice some others also are having minor problems, I am not
sure
if I
should wait untill WMP11 Final, maybe its still buggy in beta
form?
.
