Contextually, it should have been apparent that I was replying to Groucho.
mcspmpeg.ax is not particularly compatible with Media Player. If those
files are on your system, WMP is less than likely to work correctly for MPEG
playback from the Internet. Again, you would need to contact MainConcept or
your "MainConcept redistributor" for a fix/update. If there's something WMP
is doing wrong, they can let us/Microsoft know, but as far as I'm aware
they're aware of this and have some sort of update they can provide vendors
(based upon my limited interpretation of what I've heard so far from
them/their site).

zach - I'm not sure who you were replying to but I haven't made any
changes
or added any software to my system in over 1 yr when my problems started.
WMP
was co-existing fine with everything on my system for that time. I did see
the mcspmpeg.ax and mcdsmpeg.ax on my system in multiple places and
renamed
them but that didn't help. What does the "regsver32" command do?

I use Windows Media Player 10 as my default player when playing mpeg
files,
etc. when I click on playable audio and video files on the internet.
Just
a
couple of days ago the player started to hang the internet connection
when
attempting to play some but not all files. When I go to the Windows
Task
Manager sure enough wmplayer.exe CPU usage is at 99 percent and I have
to
kill the task in order to attempt to play another file. As far as I
know
everything for Media Plays 10 is up-to-date (Vers: 10.00.00.4019).
Windows
Update shows a security update for Windows Media Player 10 (KB911567)
was
installed on 4-13-06. The only other software we've recently installed
is
Movie Edit Pro 11.
