The Previous and Next buttons work in WMP10 and are only relevant for
playlists. As is the case with your CD player, Previous and Next jump one
track. They have no purpose for a single-track playlist. You are not
referring to a desire for Previous or Next, you are referring to a need to
Seek to N-1 or N+1. You can do that with the seek (progress) bar. If you
wish to step (seek) forward and backward, you can do this via embedding the
player in a web page and scripting against the player object model, setting
the track position as desired. You are asking for a very specific feature
that is *generally* not of use to the average user. For those kinds of
things, the player often has a way to do it, but it is not exposed in the UI
as perceivedly it would simply confuse the user.

Using the slider is not precise enough for my use.
Also my Previous and Next buttons are greyed out. Question if these
controls
work in WMP 10, or are for future.
I need WMP to provide the level of controls that Quicktime provides. I
need
to be able to step forward and backward in no greater than 1 second steps.
All responses appreciated.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry I wasn't more specific. When our
students use the fast forward and rewind control on WMP10 it goes to
either
the next or previous track (chapter), when we need it to go forward or
back
in increments of seconds or minutes within the current track. There may
be a
simple way to do this, but I haven't figured it out. Thanks for your
help!
