Does that mean I ought to try the Beta version and hope it fixes this?

Nothing jumps out at me from the call stack at this point. IE7 Beta 2 is
out and may already fix this... =\

For the past week or so every time I try to start Win Media Player 10
(Win XP Pro) I get the error message saying that "Windows Media Player
has encountered a problme and has to close . . ." WHen I click on the
details I see Modname: shdocvw.dll, Modver: 6.002900.2805, Offset:
00017cae. I Tried downloading the program and installing of over
whatever is there, but it made no difference. I then uninstalled the
player, rebooted, installed the player again. However, once I finished
all this I got the same error message. I checked the KB for similar
messages and found a few. None seemed to apply to this problem, but
where I could I checked on the suggestions (e.g., updating the
computer's date and time (I thoukght they were pretty correct anyway).
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? I would appreciate any
help.
