I don't use the firewall on the computer where ActiveSync installed. This
computer is a standalone server of our local domain. This computer is
connected to our small LAN only through network card 1.
When my portable device is connected to the computer I see network card 2
with Advanced properties tab. Windows Firewall is turned off on the General
tab (on the Windows Firewall window). Another computer of our domain is
conneced to the Internet though firewall and proxy server. So I never used
firewall on my local computer.
Am I need turn firewall on for the network card 2?

Reinstalling ActiveSync 4.1 does not help.
Reinstalling Media Player 10 is not possible on Windows Server 2003
operating system (only together with SP1).
With Win XP SP1, SP2 everything works fine! This problem is only persists
with Windows Server 2003 that listed as compatible with ActiveSync and the
device.
Have a look in the WS2003 firewall settings for program exceptions,
and add ActiveSync and WMP if necessary.
NB : You probably don't want to be syncing devices to a server, given
that potentially they could act as a vector for viruses on a
particularly bad day !
