Thank you for the reply Zachd. I will try my best to answer those follwoing
questions you provided in your link.

1. running windows xp service pack 2
2. currently running wmp 9.00.00.3344
3.This issue involves files either not playing, or not plying properly.
4. I do not have this trouble using other media players (currently using
winamp). files play fine in winamp, realplayer, and several others.
5.The file mmswitch.ax does not exist on my computer
6.I do not have the wmplayer2.exe on my system (did a system search and tried
opening from the "run" program function.
7. my problem involves both files on my computer, and those from the internet.
8. This problem occurs with all files. video and audio alike.
9. It seems I am unable to play back any audio file does not matter on type.
video works, but has no sound.
10. I only need to try and open the file to receive the error in question.
11. I am only trying to listen to audio and(or) watch video files.
12. I am unsure how the file error could be reproduced on another system and
no I have not seen it on another computer.
13. I am currently using a nvidia 6800gt and using onboard audio produced
by realtek.
14.I have received an error code for audio files only which says

"You've encountered error message C00D11CD while using Windows Media Player.
We are investigating the cause of this error. We will post more information
about this error when it becomes available."

I have searched for the rror and received information indicating that the
problem existed on my machine.
15. Windows Media Player is version 6.4 or higher
16.Windows Media Player is version 9.0.0.3344
17. I have never received the option to send an error report due to this.
The player has never crashed due to this occurance.

Again I hope this offers any information I may not have submitted. I must
apologize in advance if I am not providing needing information. I am not the
most technically minded when it comes to software issues.

Best regards,
Sam

for several months now I have experiance a problem with my windows media
player (series 9). It seemed to occur soon after after trying to view a
mpeg
clip. At this time I dont recall the website, but after I selected the
file
to play my pc locked and I had to restart. Now I am unable to play any
audio
file or mpeg video. On occassion I can connect to an internet radio
station,
but that usually doesnt work as well.
I would be grateful for any suggestions on how to track down the ourse of
this problem. I have already tried reinstalling the media player and
updating
it. Also I have ran numerous virus scans on my pc with none found. Thanks
in
advance
