Re: Clicking Files

The first one says "Windows Media Player is version 10.0.0.3990." The second
one says "Windows Media Player is version 6.4 or higher."

So what version does:

say you have? Or what happens when you try to load those pages?

IE works fine except for the WMP plugin. I cannot open any files that use
WMP from the net. I've stopped installing, uninstalling WMP. I switched
all
the files that should open with WMP to Real Player until I get this fixed.
No other programs are running improperly or crashing.

OK, so stop installing WMP, since you know that's not going to do
anything
here. =)

You try to launch WMP, and that fails without any error. Is IE working
properly on the system... ? Is there anything else awry on the system?

Yes that was the only change that occured. I had and still have not
installed any new software or components. I'm assuming the installer
is
succeeding because when I install the last screen it shows me says that
once
installation is complete I can access the player to configure it. Once
it
finishes downloading the window disappears it does not say install
complete.

Uninstalling and reinstalling is not an effective trouble-shooter
because
this is likely not a problem within WMP but rather within other
components
on your system that affect WMP.

If the installer is succeeding, it's pretty definitely not a problem
that
reinstalling ad infinitum would be able to help with. Is the
installer
succeeding? What changed previous to this breaking - just the last
update...?

I have had the same problem ever since the last update for wmp 10.
The
only
difference is I can not even open the player. I've tried
uninstalling
and
reinstalling several times. I've removed the updates reintalled and
even
left them out WMP 9 will not even work now. mplayer2 works fine as
does
all
my other players. I have been trying to find an answer online for
weeks
with
no luck. If this keeps up I may switch to Mac and say the heck with
Microsoft. If anybody has an answer it would be appreciated.

When I try to click MP3 files or MPEG the WMP program doesnt begin,

to
browse

this.

Another thing is, on my MSN it doesnt show What Im Listening To
when
my
player is playing.
